1. Salesforce debuts Einstein Service Agent, a new AI Agent for customer self-service

Salesforce is introducing the Einstein Service Agent, a generative AI-powered self-service experience for customers. The service provides a conversational AI interface to answer questions and resolve issues. It uses a similar foundation to Einstein Copilot, which is employee-facing for internal use within an organization.

The key difference between an AI agent and an AI copilot is its seamless integration with Salesforce's existing customer data and workflows. The AI agent approach is driven by existing customer workflows, allowing for more autonomy and enabling actions like product returns or refunds.

2. Mistral releases Codestral Mamba for faster, longer code generation

French AI startup Mistral has launched two new models, a math-based model and a code generating model for programmers and developers. The math-based model, Codestral Mamba 7B, offers a fast response time even with longer input texts and is suitable for code productivity use cases, especially for local coding projects.

The model is available for free on Mistral's la Plateforme API and can be modified and deployed through HuggingFace. Mistral has raised $640 million in series B funding.

3. Anthropic and Menlo Ventures Partner on $100 Million AI Fund

Menlo Ventures and Anthropic have partnered to establish a $100 million AI fund, the "Anthology Fund," to invest in artificial intelligence companies in pre-seed, seed, and Series A financing.

The fund, funded after Menlo completed its latest $1.35 billion round of financing, will write checks starting at $100,000 to startups and provide them with a $25,000 line of credit to use Anthropic's model. Applications will be accepted via an online form, using Monero's proprietary machine learning tools.

4. OpenAI debuts mini version of its most powerful model yet

OpenAI has announced the launch of its latest AI model, "GPT-4o mini," which aims to expand the use of its popular chatbot. The mini AI model is an offshoot of GPT-4o, OpenAI's fastest and most powerful model, which has improved audio, video, and text capabilities.

The model can handle 50 different languages at improved speed and quality. OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, is under pressure to stay ahead of the generative AI market while finding ways to make money while spending massive sums on processors and infrastructure. The mini AI model will be available to free users of ChatGPT, ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribers, and ChatGPT Enterprise users next week.

5. Google’s Gemini AI will be all over the Paris Olympics broadcast

Google has become the official AI sponsor for Team USA, with NBCUniversal partnering with Google to highlight its AI-powered features during the 2024 Olympics broadcast. The broadcast will feature Google Maps' 3D views of venues, along with event information.

The imagery is based on Google's Immersive Views, which represent landmarks and areas of interest with photorealistic models. Announcers and commentators will use Google Search AI Overviews to answer Olympic and Paralympic questions, while comedian Leslie Jones will use Gemini to learn a new sport.
