Prepared, a startup that aims to revolutionize emergency 911 calls, has raised $27 million in a Series B round led by Andreessen Horowitz. The company enables 911 dispatchers to receive real-time GPS location, respond to texts and images, and answer video calls on iPhones with Apple's Emergency SOS Live Video feature.
The goal is to reduce the burden of each individual call so that emergency response can move faster. Prepared's AI-powered features, such as translation and speech recognition, are optional but aim to help process dispatcher calls faster and more accurately.

Hundreds of social workers in England are using an AI system called Magic Notes to record conversations, draft letters to doctors, and propose actions that human workers might not have considered. The tool, which sits on social workers' phones, has the potential to save up to £2bn a year.

5. AstraZeneca extends AI immuno-oncology R&D pact with Immunai
AstraZeneca is extending its AI immuno-oncology R&D pact with Immunai, aiming to use its artificial-intelligence-powered immune cell atlas in designing clinical trials for cancer immunotherapies.
The collaboration will focus on identifying patients' responses to treatments based on their immune systems and drug mechanisms, as well as clinical decision-making, dose selection, and biomarker identification. Immunai is expected to receive $18 million for the first phase of the project.
