NVIDIA has been accused of scraping copyrighted content for AI training, reportedly using YouTube, Netflix, and other datasets. The company defended its practice, claiming it was in full compliance with copyright law and that IP laws protect specific expressions but not facts, ideas, data, or information.
However, YouTube has criticized the practice, stating that using YouTube to train AI models would be a violation of its terms. NVIDIA has also instructed workers to train on movie trailer databases, internal video game footage, and Github video datasets.
