Ray-Ban is expanding its Meta smart glasses collection with new styles, video calling with WhatsApp and Messenger, and Meta AI updates. The new Skyler frames feature a vintage jet-set style and a new low bridge option for Headliner frames.

The glasses are available in 15 countries, including the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe. The first limited-edition Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in an exclusive Scuderia Ferrari colorway will be available for Miami 2024. Meta AI, an intelligent assistant, allows users to control the glasses using voice commands and access real-time information.

2. Nvidia to purchase Run:ai for $700M, further asserting its dominance in the AI stack

Nvidia is set to acquire Run:ai, a Kubernetes-based software provider that optimizes AI apps and workloads on GPUs. The deal is expected to be worth around $700 million, with a source close to the matter stating that the price tag is close to $1 billion.

The acquisition is part of Nvidia's strategic buying spree, which has seen the company dominate more and more of the AI stack. Run:ai's centralized interface allows users to manage shared compute infrastructure, benefiting from better GPU cluster resource utilization, improved infrastructure management, and greater flexibility.

3. Zuckerberg says it will take Meta years to make money from generative AI

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg warned investors that it will take years to make money from generative AI, stating that it will take time and be costly. The company is already profitable, with net income of over $12 billion and $36.5 billion in revenue in the last quarter.

However, revenue growth is expected to slow going forward, and it is spending more than ever on AI and the metaverse. Meta sees multiple ways to monetize its free AI assistant, including scaling business messaging, introducing ads or paid content into AI interactions, and improving app engagement.

4. Cohere releases toolkit to accelerate generative AI app development in the enterprise

Cohere has released a toolkit to accelerate generative AI app development in the enterprise. The toolkit includes an open-source repository of apps that can be deployed across any cloud provider and components designed to build unique applications and deploy them at scale. 

Applications within the toolkit can leverage Command, Embed, and Rerank models across Amazon Web Services, Azure, and Cohere. This reduces planning and research development within the enterprise, allowing companies to focus on the creative and business process.

5. Eric Schmidt-backed Augment, a GitHub Copilot rival, launches out of stealth with $252M

AI is transforming coding, with 44% of software engineers using AI tools in their development processes and 26% planning to do so soon. Over half of organizations are currently piloting or deploying AI-driven coding assistants, and 75% of developers will use coding assistants by 2028.
