2. Amazon hires the founders of AI robotics startup Covariant

Amazon has hired Covariant's founders, Pieter Abbeel, Peter Chen, and Rocky Duan, along with a quarter of the startup's employees. The company is developing AI models for robots, focusing on robotic arms performing common warehouse tasks.

4. Microsoft’s Copilot AI features are coming to new Intel and AMD laptops in November

AMD has already launched laptops capable of meeting Microsoft's Copilot Plus PC hardware requirements, but the features have only been available on new Qualcomm-powered devices. Intel is announcing new Intel Core Ultra 200V processors, Lunar Lake, which will start receiving Copilot Plus PC features later this year.

Microsoft plans to bring its Recall AI features to Copilot Plus PCs in October, after being delayed due to security concerns. Some features may be previewed first with the Windows Insider Community before being widely rolled out.

Intel's Core Ultra 200V is set to be the most efficient x86 processor ever, offering up to 50% lower on-package power consumption. The chips feature a powerful 48 TOPS neural processing unit for AI work and up to 32GB of built-in memory for faster performance and lower power consumption.

Intel claims the Core Ultra 200V uses 35% less power than the previous generation and achieves 32% faster performance. The chips can run legacy x86 software without issue, and Intel's new Xe2 GPU is 32% faster than before.
