Leaked emails show Elon Musk diverting AI resources away from Tesla as the automaker flails
1. Leaked emails show Elon Musk diverting AI resources away from Tesla as the automaker flails
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has instructed Nvidia to prioritize the shipment of thousands of H100 AI chips, previously reserved for Tesla, to X and xAI instead. This move is a significant development, as H100 chips are difficult to come by and expensive. Musk has previously threatened to divert his AI ambitions away from Tesla, threatening to "blackmail" investors.
The diversion of resources could potentially push Tesla's AI ambitions back by months, as the company is already in dire straits with a disastrous financial year ahead and driver assistance software that doesn't live up to Musk's promises. The news will likely further anger shareholders who are already fuming over Musk's board prioritizing the reinstatement of a controversial $56 billion pay package.
