1. Fuggato, world’s most flexible sound machine debuts

Pivot 5 made with Midjourney

Researchers at NVIDIA have developed a generative AI model called Fugatto, which allows users to control audio output using text. Fugatto can generate or transform any mix of music, voices, and sounds described with prompts using any combination of text and audio files.

It can create music snippets, remove or add instruments from an existing song, change accents or emotions in a voice, and even let people produce sounds never heard before. Fugatto is the first foundational generative AI model that showcases emergent properties and the ability to combine free-form instructions.

2.Anthropic is introducing the Model Context Protocol

Anthropic

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to data-based systems, such as content repositories and business tools. It aims to improve the relevance of AI responses and reduce isolation from data. The protocol replaces fragmented integrations with a single protocol, allowing AI systems to access the data they need.

It includes three components: the Model Context Protocol specification and SDKs, local MCP server support in Claude Desktop apps, and an open-source repository of MCP servers. Early adopters like Block and Apollo have integrated MCP into their systems.

AI has become a point of contention in the workplace, with OpenAI's ChatGPT becoming the most popular genAI tool.

Employers have banned or restricted the use of ChatGPT due to concerns about improper use and "hallucinations," where generative AI tools give incorrect or misleading answers.

4. Artists say they leaked OpenAI’s Sora video model in protest

A still from a video generated by OpenAI’s Sora. OpenAI

Sora, has been criticized for being used for unpaid R&D and PR. A group of Sora beta testers claimed to have leaked early access to the model with a working interface for generating videos. They claim that they are being lured into "art washing" to tell the world that Sora is a useful tool for artists. The authors argue that OpenAI's early access program exploits artists for free labor and "art washing," lending artistic credibility to a corporate product.

They also object to OpenAI's content approval requirements for Sora, which state that every output needs to be approved by the OpenAI team before sharing. OpenAI has not confirmed the authenticity of the alleged Sora leak, but stated that participation in its "research preview" is voluntary and that it is working to balance creativity with robust safety measures for broader use.
