Elon Musk announces Tesla will unveil a ‘robotaxi’
1. Elon Musk announces Tesla will unveil a ‘robotaxi’
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company will unveil its 'robotaxi' on August 8. The company has previously predicted that autonomous cars would last 11 years and drive 1 million miles, making the company and its operators $30,000 in profit each year.
The current Full Self-Driving capability requires active driver supervision and does not make the vehicle autonomous. Despite Musk's claims that the system will make Tesla cars incredibly valuable, experts say it is still far from being able to drive on its own without human intervention.

3. Facebook and Instagram to label digitally altered content ‘made with AI
Meta has announced changes to its policies on digitally created and altered media, aiming to address deceptive content generated by artificial intelligence technologies. The company will start applying "Made with AI" labels in May to AI-generated videos, images, and audio posted on Facebook and Instagram, expanding a policy that previously addressed only a narrow slice of doctored videos.
Meta will also apply separate and more prominent labels to digitally altered media that poses a "particularly high risk of materially deceiving the public on a matter of importance", regardless of whether the content was created using AI or other tools.

4. Google DeepMind: optimizing Transformer Models for Dynamic Resource Allocation and Enhanced Computational Sustainability
Google DeepMind, McGill University, and Mila have introduced a groundbreaking method called Mixture-of-Depths to optimize transformer models for dynamic resource allocation and enhanced computational sustainability. MoD allows transformers to dynamically distribute computational resources, focusing on the most pivotal tokens within a sequence.
This approach reduces unnecessary computations, slashing the transformer's operational demands while maintaining or enhancing its performance. MoD-equipped models can maintain baseline performance levels with substantially reduced computational loads, achieving training objectives with identical Flops to conventional transformers but requiring up to 50% fewer Flops per forward pass.

5. Fake Facebook MidJourney AI page promoted malware to 1.2 million people
Hackers are using Facebook advertisements and hijacked pages to promote fake AI services, such as MidJourney, OpenAI's SORA, ChatGPT-5, and DALL-E, to infect users with password-stealing malware. Malvertising campaigns are created by hijacked Facebook profiles that impersonate popular AI services, pretending to offer a sneak preview of new features.
Users become members of fraudulent Facebook communities, where threat actors post news, AI-generated images, and other related info to make the pages look legitimate. Information-stealing malware focuses on stealing data from a victim's browser, which is then sold on dark web markets or used to conduct fraud.
