1. DeepSeek’s new AI model appears to be one of the best ‘open’ challengers yet
Chinese AI firm DeepSeek has developed a powerful "open" AI model, DeepSeek V3, which can handle text-based tasks like coding, translating, and writing essays and emails. The model outperforms both downloadable and closed AI models, and outperforms other models in coding competitions hosted on Codeforces.
DeepSeek V3 was trained on a dataset of 14.8 trillion tokens and has 671 billion parameters, 1.6 times the size of Llama 3.1 405B. The model was trained using Nvidia H800 GPUs in just two months and cost $5.5 million, a fraction of the development cost of OpenAI's GPT-4.

2. Google is using Anthropic’s Claude to improve its Gemini AI
Google's Gemini AI is being compared to Anthropic's competitor model Claude, according to internal correspondence. Contractors are given 30 minutes per prompt to determine the better answer.
They noticed references to Anthropic's Claude appearing in the internal Google platform they use to compare Gemini to other unnamed AI models. Anthropic's commercial terms of service forbid customers from accessing Claude to build a competing product or service without Anthropic's approval.

3. Elon Musk’s xAI lands $6B in new cash to fuel AI ambitions
xAI has raised $6 billion in a Series C financing round, with participation from various investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Blackrock, Fidelity, Lightspeed, MGX, Morgan Stanley, OIA, QIA, Sequoia Capital, Valor Equity Partners, Vy Capital, Nvidia, AMD, and others.
Kingdom Holdings invested around $400 million in the round, bringing xAI's total raised to $12 billion. The new cash will be used to accelerate advanced infrastructure, ship groundbreaking products, and accelerate research and development. xAI is competing with OpenAI and Anthropic in the generative AI race.

4. Jet.AI Launches Agentic AI Model for Selecting and Booking Private Jets
Jet.AI has launched an agentic artificial intelligence model called "Ava" to assist customers in selecting and booking private jets. The AI model, which can be contacted via phone or text, provides real-time aircraft availability, pricing, and guidance.
Jet.AI has also made updates to its private jet booking app, CharterGPT, including enhanced push notifications, carbon tracking and offsetting, and deep linking for trip sheets. Agentic AI is positioned to take the capabilities of automated software programs to the next phase, a request-action architecture, by conducting business operations without human intervention. Intuit plans to roll out agentic AI capabilities throughout 2025, adding these capabilities across its platforms and products.
