ByteDance has launched Jimeng AI, a text-to-video software developed by Faceu Technology, in response to OpenAI and Google's interest in the emerging market.
The Chinese tech giant joins a growing number of Chinese businesses in developing similar tools, such as Sora, which was launched by Microsoft-backed OpenAI. Jimeng AI is now available on the Apple App Store for Chinese users, under the Jianying business of ByteDance.

Nvidia has faced government scrutiny due to its dominance in the market. Authorities in the European Union, Britain, and China have requested information about Nvidia's sales, supply allocation, and investments.
The Justice Department is also investigating Nvidia's sales practices and plans to review one of its recent acquisitions. Nvidia is now working to respond to government interest and has hired public policy employees and an in-house competition attorney. The company's quarterly profits have risen ninefold to $14.88 billion, making it the world's third-most-valuable technology company.

3. Gemini intelligence is coming to Google Home
Google has announced three new Gemini intelligence-powered experiences for its Google Home smart home platform. These include a camera intelligence feature that generates descriptive captions for video footage from Nest cameras, a natural language input for creating Google Home routines, and a smarter Google Assistant for Nest smart speakers and displays with an all-new voice.
Most of these features will be paywalled behind Google's Nest Aware subscription, which starts at $8 a month ($80 a year). The features will launch first in Google's Public Preview beta program and roll out to more users next year.

4. OpenAI tempers expectations with less bombastic, GPT-5-less DevDay this fall
OpenAI is changing its DevDay conference format from a tentpole event to a series of on-the-road developer engagement sessions. The company will not release its next major flagship model during DevDay, instead focusing on updates to its APIs and developer services.
The DevDay events will take place in San Francisco, London, and Singapore, featuring workshops, breakout sessions, demos, and developer spotlights. OpenAI has been working on improving its models and preventing them from going off the rails, but faces challenges such as access-blocking and copyright lawsuits.

5. LG debuts South Korea’s first open-source AI model
LG Group's artificial intelligence think tank, LG AI Research, has unveiled the third generation of its hyperscale AI multimodal Exaone, offering better performance and cost-efficiency than its predecessors. The lightweight model, Exaone 3.0, is Korea's first open-source AI model for research purposes.
It ranked top globally in 13 benchmark scores and has been trained on over 60 million data points from various fields. LG AI Research plans to work with LG affiliates to bring Exaone 3.0 to products and services in the second half of this year.
