Google has launched Gemini, a new AI model that offers users direct access to its most capable models. Gemini Advanced, available in over 150 countries and territories in English, is the largest and most capable state-of-the-art AI model. It is now the most preferred chatbot compared to leading alternatives, capable of highly complex tasks like coding, logical reasoning, and collaborating on creative projects.
Gemini Advanced is part of the Google One AI Premium Plan, which includes 2TB of storage and integration with Gmail, Docs, Slides, and Sheets.

2. FCC officially declares AI-voiced robocalls illegal
The FCC has declared AI-voiced robocalls illegal, stating that they are "artificial" and against the law when used in automated calling scams. The decision was prompted by the high-profile case of a fake President Biden calling New Hampshire citizens, which was likely a form of voter suppression.
The FCC's declaratory ruling aims to deter negative uses of AI and ensure consumers are fully protected by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). The ruling also clarifies that the TCPA does not allow for any carve-out of technologies that purport to provide the equivalent of a live agent.

The NAE, which is one of the highest academic distinctions awarded to engineers, has a selection process that includes engineering research, practice, education, engineering literature, pioneering new technology, making major advancements in traditional engineering, and developing innovative approaches to engineering education.

4. Man uses Open AI's ChatGPT-4 to find the perfect date on Tinder, AI bot talked to woman
A Russian man, Aleksandr Zhadan, used OpenAI's ChatGPT-4 and a custom AI bot to find the perfect date on Tinder. After a bad breakup with his girlfriend, he started dating women in Moscow and St. Petersburg. In 2022, he got access to OpenAI's GPT-3 API and developed an AI bot that automatically swiped on profiles with two pictures.
Zhadan trained the bot to write more naturally to women and installed additional filters to prevent "cringe" stories. The bot found better girls and chatted longer, leading to an engagement.

5. Bootstrapped for 8 years, Xensam now has snapped up $40M for AI that manages software assets
Xensam, a Stockholm-based startup that provides AI-based tools for software asset management, has raised $40 million, its first outside funding since its eight-year founding. The funding comes from Expedition Growth Capital, a London-based investor. The company's CEO, Oskar Fösker, said the funding will be used to develop its AI technology stack, hire more employees, and break into the U.S. market.
Xensam has 200 customers and annual recurring revenues are growing at 126% annually. The company aims to use AI to scan and understand an organization's network, providing real-time insights into thousands of applications across both cloud and on-premise environments.
