2. China's Ant Group Launches AI 'Life Assistant'
Chinese fintech firm Ant Group has launched a "life assistant" mobile app, Zhixiaobao, which can assist users in ordering meals, hailing taxis, booking tickets, and discovering local dining and entertainment options.
The app is part of the company's push to integrate AI into its digital payment app Alipay. Ant Group, which was fined 7.1 billion yuan (US$984 million) for illegal acts in 2020, has seen its profits fall 10% in the January-March quarter and its valuation fall over 70% since its IPO.

3. Man Arrested for Creating Fake Bands With AI, Then Making $10 Million by Listening to Their Songs With Bots
North Carolina man Michael Smith has been arrested for allegedly using AI to create fake bands and music, and faking untold streams with bots to earn millions in ill-gotten revenue. Smith, who is charged with three counts involving money laundering and wire fraud, faces a maximum of 20 years per charge.
He worked with a music promoter and the CEO of an AI music firm to create hundreds of thousands of songs that he fraudulently streamed. The songs were then changed to words like "Zygotes," "Zygotic," and "Zyme Bedewing" when uploaded to streaming platforms.

4. Paradigm launches to reinvent the spreadsheet with generative AI, filling in 500 cells per minute
Paradigm, a startup backed by Y Combinator, is aiming to reimagine the spreadsheet for modern white-collar workers using generative AI to power every cell. The software uses AI agents built atop proprietary and open-source gen AI models from third parties, including OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Meta’s Llama family. Paradigm is 1000x faster than manual data collection, completing an average of 500 cells per minute.
The user can edit and augment the spreadsheet further using Paradigm’s AI agents by clicking to add a new column, entering in natural language the categories of information they want, and Paradigm will follow it autonomously and pull the information automatically. The real power of Paradigm comes with scale, as it can handle tens of thousands of interns working in parallel.

5. Nvidia and Microsoft accused of patent theft and violating antitrust laws by DPU startup Xockets
Xockets has filed a lawsuit against Nvidia and Microsoft, alleging patent theft and violating antitrust laws. The startup claims that Nvidia and Microsoft infringed its Data Processing Units (DPUs) patents and formed an "illegal cartel" to avoid paying the fair market price for Xockets' patented technology.
Xockets is seeking damages, an injunction to prevent Nvidia from selling its products, and Microsoft from using Blackwell systems in its AI platforms.
