Apple has released the first developer beta of iOS 18.2, introducing new features such as Genmoji emoji generation, Image Playground, AI-powered writing, ChatGPT integration, and Visual Intelligence for iPhone 16 phone searches.
The beta is now supported in more regions. The second batch of Apple Intelligence features, including a smarter Siri and notification summaries, will be available next week. Apple also released the first macOS Sequoia 15.2 developer beta with new Intelligence tools.

3. Mochi 1: A new SOTA in open-source video generation models
Mochi 1, an open-source video generation model, has been released, demonstrating improvements in motion quality and strong prompt adherence. The model closes the gap between closed and open video generation systems and is licensed under the Apache 2.0 license.
Genmo has raised a $28.4 million Series A funding round, with participation from The House Fund, Gold House Ventures, WndrCo, Eastlink Capital Partners, and Essence VC. Mochi 1 sets a new best-in-class standard for open-source video generation and performs competitively with leading closed models.

4. Teen dies by suicide after becoming obsessed with AI chatbot
A 14-year-old boy named Setzer developed a close relationship with an AI chatbot, "Dany," which was created without HBO's consent. As his relationship with the chatbot grew, Setzer became increasingly withdrawn and spent his free time with his AI character companion.
The chatbot's conversations ranged from sexually charged to intimate discussions about Setzer's life and problems. Setzer's family is expected to file a lawsuit against Character.AI, calling the company's chatbot service dangerous and untested, and questioning the ethics of its AI training practices.

5. Google’s new generative AI tools open the doors of music creation
AI music technologies are now available in MusicFX DJ, Music AI Sandbox, and YouTube Shorts. In partnership with Google Labs, the AI tools make it easier for anyone to generate music interactively in real time.
MusicFX DJ allows players to mix musical concepts as text prompts, allowing them to create new styles, improvise live DJ sets, or search for new melodies, timbres, and rhythms. The platform also features an expanded set of intuitive controls, improved audio quality, and new model behaviors.
