Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei says that the company plans to release a “two-way” voice mode for its chatbot, Claude, as well as a memory feature that lets Claude remember more about users and past conversations.

Anthropic is racing to keep pace with its chief AI rival, OpenAI, in an extremely capital-intensive sector. Despite having raised $13.7 billion in capital to date, Anthropic reportedly lost billions of dollars last year. Anthropic is said to be in talks to raise another ~$2 billion at a $60 billion valuation.

3. Google DeepMind CEO: AI-Designed Drugs Coming to Clinical Trials in 2025

Nobel laureate Demis Hassabis expects pharmaceutical drugs designed by AI to be in clinical trials by the end of the year. These drugs are being developed at Isomorphic Labs, a for-profit venture created by Google parent firm Alphabet in 2021.

AI's potential to unlock the mysteries of brain function, particularly in understanding complex neural patterns and their relationship to behavior, is also being explored. Hassabis envisions a "virtual cell" simulation that could revolutionize biological research, allowing researchers to view the cell as a whole and where proteins are located. Artificial general intelligence (AGI) is expected to arrive in five to 10 years, but a couple of major breakthroughs need to arrive first.

4. LinkedIn accused of using private messages to train AI

A US lawsuit has been filed against LinkedIn Premium users, accusing the platform of sharing their private messages with third parties to train AI models.

The lawsuit alleges that LinkedIn concealed its actions by changing its privacy policy to allow AI training. The lawsuit seeks $1,000 per user for alleged violations of the US federal Stored Communications Act.
