2. OpenAI partners with Korea’s Kakao after inking SoftBank Japanese JV

OpenAI has announced a strategic collaboration with South Korea's Kakao, a tech company that operates the popular messaging app KakaoTalk. The move comes after SoftBank announced a $3 billion budget to deploy OpenAI tech across its group operations and subsidiaries.

The collaboration will initially cover three projects: developing a new Korean-language assistant called Kanana powered by OpenAI, integrating OpenAI tech into KakaoTalk, and becoming a customer of OpenAI's. The deals will benefit OpenAI by unlocking new linguistic doors, especially given DeepSeek's success in the US. OpenAI is joining other tech giants such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta in developing their own in-house AI chips.

4. Boston Dynamics joins forces with its former CEO to speed the learning of its Atlas humanoid robot

Boston Dynamics has partnered with the Robotics & AI Institute (RAI Institute) to improve reinforcement learning for its Atlas humanoid robot. The collaboration mirrors Toyota's Toyota Research Institute, which also collaborated with Boston Dynamics on large behavior models.
