2. OpenAI partners with Korea’s Kakao after inking SoftBank Japanese JV

OpenAI has announced a strategic collaboration with South Korea's Kakao, a tech company that operates the popular messaging app KakaoTalk. The move comes after SoftBank announced a $3 billion budget to deploy OpenAI tech across its group operations and subsidiaries.

The collaboration will initially cover three projects: developing a new Korean-language assistant called Kanana powered by OpenAI, integrating OpenAI tech into KakaoTalk, and becoming a customer of OpenAI's. The deals will benefit OpenAI by unlocking new linguistic doors, especially given DeepSeek's success in the US. Boston Dynamics has partnered with the Robotics & AI Institute (RAI Institute) to improve reinforcement learning for its Atlas humanoid robot. The partnership, led by former MIT CEO Marc Raibert, aims to transfer simulation-based learning to real-world settings and improve Atlas's interaction with physical environments.
